Agriculture South Carolina's major agricultural commodities are cattle, broiler chickens, tobacco, soybeans, dairy products, and corn. Cotton, traditionally a leading crop, is still valuable, as are wheat and peaches. Major commercial fishing species are various saltwater fish and shellfish. About two-thirds of the state is covered by forests, most of which are classified as commercial timberland.
